My hair is very soft and gets flat easily even after a layered cut. Wax and gel doesn't work for me and once a hairdresser use some kind of foam which i think is mousse, my hair could stay up whole day which is something i find damn hard to achieve.

normal people usually dont have time to do what hairdressers do. your hair has volume when you leave the hairdressers because of 3 reasons.
- Layered cut - it makes your hair lighter and all, but it leaves pockets for your hair to be increased in volume with step 2 and 3. (this isnt the right way of explaining this i am sure hairdressers have more technical terms)
- Blowdry - there was a time in my life where i was very freaking vain, and when i found this out, i blew dry my hair everyday. hairdressers learn techniques of blow drying to increase volume (blow against the style)
- Mousse and hairspray - mouse so that the product doesnt weigh down your hair, and hairspray to seal the deal and keep it like that.
